Rajshahi University is considered as one of the largest institutions in Bangladesh. It holds the highest seat of learning specifically in the northern district of Bangladesh. After the establishment on 6th July, 1953, the university has successfully crossed 62 years providing a platform for higher education and research. The campus of the university is huge and the total area is 753-acre. You would love the green ambiance of Motihar which stands close to River Padma and it is seven kilometers on the eastern side of Rajshahi City Center.
After Pakistan was created people felt the immediate necessity of a university in East Pakistan. This is when Rajshahi University came into being. These were regions lacking in essential education and it was not possible for all students to access Dhaka University in real life. Thus, establishment of Rajshahi University greatly put an end to the educational crisis.
Going with the popular university demand in the specific region the government offered a possible report and the university of Rajshahi was considered to be suitable for the purpose. The Rajshahi University act of 1953 was passed and it was also known as East Bengal Act XV of 1953. On 31st March 1953 the same was passed by the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly. Bara Kuthi was made the administration building for the purpose and it was an 18th century Dutch Trading House the status of which was changed overnight.
Dr. Itrat Hossain Zeberi is the Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University. The academic activities of the university began in 1954. During the inception days the classes were conducted at the Rajshahi Government College. In the year 1961 the university shifted to the present ground. From the time the institution was just at its best imparting education to the students of Bangladesh with better motivation and arrangement.
The Rajshahi University holds 59 departments which are well sectioned to 12 faculties. There are in total six institutes and among these the IBA and IBR deserves special mention. This one is considered to be one off the top-rated Bangladesh universities. In recent times, the researchers from this university have made pivotal contributions and they have played a major role in inculcating the traditional Islamic fervor. The university researchers for the first time created the country’s most important and the first snake database and it includes snake venom and their toxicity.
The alumni community of Rajshahi University is just the best and the community is extremely strong in Bangladesh and abroad. The university is known for having various facilities like faculty, departments, affiliated colleges and institutions, institutes, schools, and the office of international affairs.

Candidates finally selected for admission in the academic year 2023-2024 (1st year) should complete the admission process as mentioned below:
1. Candidates selected for admission can fill the admission form by providing Roll, Board, Year of HSC and SSC or equivalent examination through the admission.ru.ac.bd website. The list of units selected for admission will be available if the specified information is provided correctly. The form of the unit in which one wants to get admission should be filled. A PDF form containing all the information will be available if the form is filled properly. The received PDF form should be printed in triplicate on A4 size offset paper. The form can also be printed later. By clicking on the 'Pay Online' button of the Student Panel, the fixed fee of the concerned unit should be paid through mobile banking directly through this website. The relevant fee has to be paid before appearing at the unit office.
2. The following fees (including hall fee) prescribed by the University are to be paid for admission:
(a) Fee for Unit-A and Unit-B is Rs.5304/-.
(b) Fee for Unit-C is Rs.5431/-.
3. The following documents must be submitted to the concerned unit office in person at the appointed time for admission:
(a) Print three copies of the filled admission form (on A4 size offset paper).
(b) Entry form signed by inspector.
(c) Original certificate (if applicable) and mark sheet of SSC/Equivalent and HSC/Equivalent.
(d) Original Registration Card of H.S.C.
4. The following points are particularly noteworthy for filling the online admission form:
(a) HSC and SSC or equivalent examination Roll, Board, Year must be provided correctly.
(b) Blood group must be known.
(c) All admission procedures must be completed within the prescribed time of the concerned unit.
5. If a student has his/her brother/sister having residency in any hall and wants to take residency in that hall, an application should be made to the Director, ICT Centre, Rabi with all the proofs by 30/06/2024.
6. The department change (subject migration) process of the students (based on the order of preference) will be completed by the concerned unit office. There is no need for the student to communicate. However, the admitted students can see the category obtained by logging into the Admission page. If you want to stay in that category, you can stop the migration process by clicking on the relevant button within the specified time.
7. Each student's last assigned department name and other information will be available on the admission.ru.ac.bd website after completion of the admission process (after 30/06/2024). Based on the said information, every student will submit the fee fixed by his department directly to the departmental office. 8. After completing the admission process in one unit, a student can get admission in another unit through the unit migration process. For this you have to cancel the admission in the current unit showing the reason of 'unit migration' and fill the form again in the new unit. At this time the related fee of Rs.510/- should be paid. If for any reason the unit migration process fee is not displayed correctly, the ICT Center should be contacted immediately.
Special Terms:
(a) If any inconsistency is observed in the information provided by the student, the admission will be cancelled.
(b) The authority concerned shall have the power to correct/cancel any inaccuracy in the results published.
