Jahurul Islam Medical College & Hospital has been planned to serve all sections of people by providing essential as well as specialized Medicare.
In the first phase a 250 bed hospital has been put into service since August 1989. The number of beds has been increased to more than 500. The hospital is equipped with most modern and latest equipment and facilities. In its final and ultimate phase of completion, the hospital will have 750 beds to provide all aspects of medical and surgical services. Because of its unique location and activities and developments already initiated at the behest of the hospital, Bhagalpur-Bajitpur was naturally considered for the establishment of a medical college in the private sector. The hospital so abundantly equipped with modern instruments and facilities provide ideal infrastructure for the medical college to impart education and research facilities on theoretical as well as practical aspect of medical science. Service of eminent professors, surgeons and consultants from home and abroad are made available to ensure best services to the Hospital, College & Nursing College. The hospital has been brought under computer networking system and each department/section is connected to each other through LAN and WAN to share the informations and to store in a central database server.

General:
Every student must follow the existing rules of the Jahurul Islam Medical College and also the rules, which will be notified in future time to time. Disciplinary action(s) would be taken by the Academic and Disciplinary body against any student who violates or tries to violates any of these rules in the form of fine, suspension, detention or expulsion from the college.
Attendance:
Students must attend the classes punctually as per class routine. Students having shortage of requisite percentage of attendance or students with poor academic performance will not be eligible for sitting in the University Examinations.
Examinations:
Students must sit for all departmental and college examinations. The students must complete all system cards, term finals and ward final examinations in each subject. If any student fails to fulfill the internal academic requirements will not be considered for sitting in the University examinations. The university professional examinations are conducted as per the systems of the Faculty of Medicine of Dhaka University.
Dress Code:
Students must put on proper dress for attending classes & ward duties. For males loose shirts, trousers, shoes, long white coats and for female shalower, kameez, dupatta long white coats are recommended.
Vacation /Leave:
The working days of the college and hospital are from Wednesday to Monday. Tuesday is closed. During working days students are not allowed to leave the campus without prior permission of the principal. The list of holidays of the year is announced at the beginning of the year. No student should claim vacation as a matter of right. In case of emergency the college authority may grant permission to leave the campus but the college authority will not bear any responsibility for the academic deficiencies, which may occur subsequently. If any student leaves campus without prior permission of the authority is subject to disciplinary action. Student remaining unauthorized absent from campus or from the classes for more than one month will be struck off the college roll.
Others/ Miscellaneous Rules:
1. Students are required to observe the order and quietness at all the times in the campus and will not be involved in any types of grouping, politics or activities which are subversive to the institution or state.
2. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the college premises.
3. Addiction to any drug/narcotics is forbidden and subject to serious disciplinary action.
4. Students are not allowed to display any poster, notice, handbill in the college, hospital or hostel premises without written permission.
5. Students desiring to address principal by letter must do so separately and individually. Joint application and correspondence directly to any higher authority other than principal is forbidden.
6. Students facing any problem in the college or hostel may apply to principal through proper channel.

Admission:
Every year male & female students including 45% foreign students are admitted into first year MBBS class. Session usually commences from January each year.
Admission (Local Students)
Guideline for admission of local students usually given by ministry of Health each year. Announcement for admission appears in the National Daily News Papers usually in the month of October (Approx.), seeking application from the interested students.
Eligibility for Local Students to Apply for Admission into 1 st Year :
Candidates should have minimum GPA 9.00 combindly in SSC and HSC (separately minimum 3.5 in each) Examination or equivalent and have GPA=3.50 in Biology. Students with a break of study of more than one year are not eligible to apply.
Admission Procedure for Local Students
Announcement for admission usually published in the daily newspaper in the month of October each year after admission in Govt. Medical Colleges. Eligible interested candidates are to collect and submit duly filled in application forms within the notified date along with other necessary documents and collect admit card for admission test.
Admission Test :
This year admission test is arranged by DGHS under ministry of health. Candidates are selected for admission on the basis of merit and notified in the national daily newspapers. A last date of admission is usually given for the selected candidates after which candidates from waiting list are called if seats remain vacant.
Medical checkup:
A Medical checkup is done for each selected candidates before admission. Students having gross physical, mental or refractory disorders may not be admitted as per decision of the medical board.
