It was in the year 1993, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) came into being. It is known to be the private university in Bangladesh with special focus on global partnerships and research. Here at Independent University Bangladesh you have more than 10,000 students enrolling under the graduate and undergraduate levels. The 237 faculty members are highly qualified and they provide the right guidance to students coming from all parts of the world. 50% of the members are known to hold PhD degrees and there is an alumni network of about 19000 students. Welcome to Independent University, Bangladesh - also known by its acronym IUB.The University was established in 1993 with professional support from some renowned national and international academics as a pioneer private university. IUB is committed to prepare its students as able professionals -- - creative, committed, liberal, alive to their environment and capable to contribute to the country's advancement as well as achieve their goals in a rapidly changing economic and civic environment. IUB is known among its students and graduates for providing a good mix of study and social life. A host of activities - including sport, clubs, societies, employment services, accommodation, student services, scholarships, teaching, learning, research - contribute to the total IUB experience. IUB graduates enjoy some of highest employment rates and starting salaries.

General Requirements
SSC, HSC and Equivalent	Aggregate GPA of 7.0 in secondary and higher secondary level, with a minimum GPA of 3.00 in each
O Level, A level and Equivalent	At least 5 subjects in O Level with a minimum GPA of 2.50 At least 2 subjects in A Level with a minimum GPA of 2.00
Other Equivalent Degrees	International Baccalaureate or US High School Diploma Other 12-year equivalent degree (must have the equivalence certificate from the Ministry of Education)

Subject-Specific Requirements
Engineering	Applicants must have: Math and Physics in O Level Math and Physics with a minimum of grade of B in HSC
Microbiology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology	Applicants must have Biology in HSC or O-Level with a minimum of B grade
Environmental Science	Applicants with Chemistry/Physics in HSC or O Level will get preference.
Pharmacy	Candidates must have passed the HSC/A Level or an equivalent recognized examination in the current year or the previous year. Candidates should have an aggregate GPA of at least 8.00 across both SSC or its equivalent and HSC or its equivalent examinations, based on a 10-point scale and not less than 3.50 in each SSC and HSC. For both SSC or its equivalent and HSC or its equivalent, candidates must achieve a minimum GPA of 4.00 in Chemistry, and Biology, based on a 5-point scale. For the HSC or its equivalent examination, candidates must achieve A minimum GPA of 4.00 in Chemistry, and Biology individually, on a 5-point scale A minimum GPA of 3.50 in Physics, and Mathematics, based on a 5-point scale For A-Level and O-Level candidates, the grade requirement is a 'B' in Chemistry, and Biology, and a 'C' in Mathematics and Physics. International students should have completed a 12-year education and achieved equivalent grades from recognized foreign institutions. If holding another equivalent 12-year degree, an equivalent certificate from the Ministry of Education is mandatory. Candidates lacking Mathematics in the HSC, A Level, or its equivalent can still gain admission. However, they are required to complete an additional 3-credit Mathematics course relevant to the B. Pharm curriculum.
