Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is a public research university in Mymensingh. It was founded on 18 August 1961. The campus is on the western side of the old Brahmaputra River. It covers 1,200 acres and is located about 3 kilometers south of Mymensingh town.

The university has six faculties and 44 departments. These include:

It also has several institutes. These include the Graduate Training Institute (GTI) and the Institute of Agribusiness and Developmental Studies (IADS).

BAU has 567 teachers. Among them, 363 hold PhDs. There are 12 halls of residence. Nine are for male students, and three are for female students. The university also operates 10 major farms. It has a central library with over 192,000 books.

The university has produced 42,137 graduates. These include 25,523 bachelor’s degree holders, 16,078 master’s graduates, and 537 Ph.D. holders. There are 8,088 students currently enrolled. Among them, 5,147 are undergraduates and 2,941 are postgraduates.

BAU runs 262 active research projects under its own research system, BAURES. It also works on village development and agriculture outreach through the BAUEC. These programs are active in different areas around Mymensingh.

The GTI provides training to teachers and officers. It also hosts international workshops. So far, 23,855 people have completed training under this institute.

Students join many co-curricular and social programs. These take place at the Teacher-Student Centre and the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium. Sports events are held by the Department of Physical Education. Student activities are guided by the Student Affairs Division. It also supports the Central Students' Union (BAUCSU), hall unions, scouts, and other groups.
